Having purchased Powys Country House in July 2006, we have lovingly
tried to restore the country house, cottages and gardens, and bring
it back to its former glory.
We have completely modernized and refurbished all of the accommodation,
which now provides us with a beautiful country house. Part of the
house dates back to the 1700’s, and still retains a wealth
of charm and character.
We have also renovated the old stables and cow shed, to provide
self catering cottage accommodation.
Our cottages are situated in the court yard at the rear of the main
house. All the accommodation is set in almost 3 acres of grounds.
There is an up to date fire alarm system installed, with all the
necessary fire extinguishers, at certain points around all the accommodation
in the main house. All the cottages have a hard wired smoke alarm,
fire blankets, and extinguishers.
We want our guests to feel safe and secure in the knowledge, that
in the event of a fire, every precaution has been taken, to minimize
the spread of fire, and to lower the risk for all our guests.
We live on the site, giving peace of mind to our guests, and ensuring
everyone receives that personal touch on arrival. We are also on
hand should any of our guests need help or assistance with anything.
(without being intrusive)
It can sleep up to 20 comfortably
in its 8 bedrooms. Making it an ideal venue for that family Christmas
get-together, Summer holidays, Anniversaries, Grandma’s 90th
birthday, Dads 50th, etc.
Powys House is well situated on the A5 for sight seeing around
the area. We are on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, and only
a short drive to the many attractions of North Wales and surrounding
area. Llangollen, Bala, Betws-y-coed, the Roman city of Chester,
are just a few of the great places to visit.
We have, lakes, mountains, castles, national trust properties,
Thomas Telfords Aqueduct, canal boats, and steam trains, on our
doorstep. If you are looking for a nice relaxing time, taking in
all the sights, then this is the place for you.
On the other hand, if you are looking for an action packed holiday,
then this also is the place for you. We have canoeing, white water
rafting, Go Karting, off road 4x4 driving, walking, climbing, high
rope walking, paint balling, fishing, shooting, horse riding and
much more, all within the area.
